I just finished my latest Mixed CD Compilation, and I’m making it available to the public for download. For those of you who don’t know, I am a Professional DJ.. err.. uhhmmm.. Let me rephrase that.. I used to be a Professional DJ in The Philippines, and have made a career of playing for the hottest parties, and most happening events for almost 5 years (not counting the 6 years I spent with a mobile sounds & lights reinforcement), until I decided to get married, settle down and work here in the Middle East, counting pebbles, frying eggs on the hood of cars, and chasing goats and camels in the desert.. lol

The last time I played professionally at an event was way back 2004. The clubbing scene hasn’t changed much, although DJs in the Philippines now are more innovative and have actually started incorporating live sets on their performances. Makati is still the place to be on a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night. RnB and Hip-Hop still rock.. NOT!!!

Posh nightspots that cater to the mature and established clientèle still adhere to Club-friendly, Soulful Grooves & Circuit music programming w/c is what CD 1 is all about. CD 1 will appeal more to the Ladies, the “Pink” community, and the not-so critical people that don’t mind what the DJ is playing, as long as it is good to the ears, and will make them stomp their feet and shake their booties in unison!

House and Electronica, with their sub-genres, still rule the underground dance floor. Year 2002 saw the emergence of Tribal and Progressive Music, and 2004 was the year Electro and Minimal Techno busted speakers at Clubs. CD 2 is all about these sub-genres, the same type of music that I usually play at big events. It’s a mystical musical journey for the discerning individuals who appreciate a DJ that tells a story thru his music. It’s a mix done with passion and fervor, as only DJ Robin Mendoza can!

CD 1 is all about you! The people who have partied with me thru thick and thin. The people who have witnessed my growth as a resident DJ. The people who have supported me during those trying times. And of course, it’s also dedicated……… to all the girls I loved before. (nyeeeeeeeee!)

CD 2 is all about me! Let me be your guide, as I take you on a journey starting at the depths and darkness of the underground. Get high and experience ecstasy without even taking the damn drug! Take my hand and hold on tight, or if you prefer, take a seat and fasten you seatbelts, and I promise you, when this trip is over, we’ll be reaching for the stars together!

I saw this video at YouTube earlier, and I can’t stop laughing! This is a video of “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, performed by around 1,500 inmates from a Cebu Prison in The Philippines. Sino nag-organize? Ano ba ‘to, exercise of some sort? O talagang pinaghandaan? Para saan? Watch and see what I’m talkin’ about.

Habang nag-iimagine ako, bigla akong fast-forward several years from now. Anong klaseng relationship meron kaya kaming mag-ama? Will I be able to provide all her needs? Will she be a good daughter to me and my wife? Saan kaya sya nag-aaral? Madami kaya syang manliligaw? Will she be a role model?

Bigla akong back to reality. Basahin: Read the rest of this entry

Everyone reading newspapers, watching the news on tv, listening to the radio, and surfing the net must have heard what happened in Basilan a couple of days ago. 50 soldiers from the Philippine Marines got ambushed by around 400 heavily armed men from the MILF and the Abu Sayyaf. 14 brave men lost their lives on that gun-battle, or should I say massacre. Some got robbed of their personal belongings (wallets, jewelries, mobile phones). I even read on one article that the killers even phoned the wife of a slain soldier and said “Wala na asawa mo. Pinatay na namin kasi sundalo (You’re husband is dead. We killed him because he is a soldier”. Tangina. I can’t imagine what the wife felt at that time. It must have been horrible. Such atrocity and arrogance. And here’s an even loathsome reality. 11 of those who died, got beheaded, and mutilated (hands chopped, limbs severely cut, etc).. Whoa! What’s that again?? BEHEADED?? WTF?!!

This act of barbarism should be condemned. I don’t care what ideology these people are fighting for, it’s just not right. They are animals. They are bad. They are evil. They should be chased and hunted like the animals that they are. No restraint, No mercy. No sympathy.

Who are the culprits anyway? They’re Muslim extremists who got blinded by their own teachings. They don’t practice what they preach. Islam is supposed to be a religion of love, and peace. Love?? Peace?? Where??!!! Funny how some people hide behind religions. But it’s not funny knowing that most, if not all, known terrorists are Muslims. They blame us for portraying them as savages, as murderers. Diminutive and honest mistakes like calling them names, or drawing offensive and distasteful cartoons of their prophet, or writing articles about them that they don’t like, always generate negative reactions from them. They call it blasphemy, sacrilege, and an attack on their religion. Expect a call for “jihad” or holy war against the offenders faster than you can blink an eye.

These people don’t represent Islam. They are terrorists. If they are terrorists, then how come the government is dealing with them?? I believe the Philippines have the same stand as the US when it comes to dealing with terrorism. Then why is the government so bent on having a ceasefire with these animals? The thing is, these people don’t even want a ceasefire to begin with! Maybe the government is blinded by facts, in thinking that they can achieve lasting peace by talking to these people. Our lame president even said “Run after the killers, but don’t run away from the talks”. CRAP! The longer the government and the military restrain themselves from going after the murderers, the more time these people will have, reorganizing and arming themselves to the teeth. Peace can only be attained if these terrorists are wiped from the face of the earth.

Do not forget that Basilan is still under the Philippines. They are bound by the laws of The Republic. They are fighting for autonomy, let them. They are fighting for religion, let them. They are fighting for their future, let them. But if they disregard certain guidelines, break rules of engagement, become threats to national security, and commit heinous crimes, PUNISH THEM. Uhmm.. actually, I don’t know what they’re fighting for anymore, so fuck it. JUST GO AFTER THE BASTARDS AND MAKE THEM PAY!

The families of these brave soldiers that died deserve nothing less than payback. Make them feel their loved ones didn’t die in vain. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. That’s how it should always be.

“If any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”
