Hmmm.. 80s/New Wave Stuff?? Parang “New Wave Diary” series of pirated CDs na nabibili sa bangketa di ba?

I will re-introduce you to the sound of the 80s, and will make you appreciate the glory years of the “NEW WAVE” era. And i will do it with a twist. :D

Konting tulog na lang. Malapit na. Pasasayahin at pabibilibin kita pramis!

Pero kailangan ko ng title ng CD. Tulong naman jan! Wala ako maisip eh.

Darn.

Be more cautious in putting your real photos on the net. You might find yourself famous one day.

Here’s a perfect example. Shown below is a guy’s real picture. Ang cute di ba? Ang sarap pisilin ng pisngi.

Majnoun is Arabic for crazy…

I consider Muscat, Oman as my second home. Aside from working here for more than three years now, marami ako alala sa lugar na ito noong bata pa.

Muscat was different then. It was only in 1970 that this country opened it’s doors to the outside world.

Transportation and communication were so bad, you had to ride open pickups as taxi cabs, and the only way to get in touch with loved ones from the Philippines was thru snailmail na inaabot ng halos 2 months bago makarating sa Pilipinas. Oman then was populated by less than 1 million Omanis, most weren’t educated properly and totally oblivious to the outside world, that’s why they relied on expatriates to do most of the work for them.

That was then, now it’s a different story. Oman is fast developing into world class destination for tourists, and slowly emerging as a force to reckon with in the area. Bakit kamo? Eh di syempre dahil sa langis. In 37 years time, ang laki na ng pinagbago ng bansa na ito. Huli pa rin sila compared to other countries in the gulf, especially UAE (ang tindi ng Dubai di ba?), but they’re slowly getting there.

They used to be shy and withdrawn, but now they’re sociable and friendly. They are even considered as the most hospitable among the gulf countries. Marami na din ang mga nagsipag-aral at nagtapos sa ibang bansa and because of their love for their motherland and patriotism, chose to be a part in the progress, and help Oman to develop further more.

But in spite of the positive change, negative transformation also took place. Gone were the days when you can just hitch a ride for free, leave your car unlocked without fear of being victimized by a car burglar, and walk dark alleys without getting mugged. Oman tried to become so modern that even drinking alcohol here is not a problem anymore. As long as you have a liquor permit, you can buy anything you want. Prostitution, although not allowed and cannot be made legal, became rampant and prevalent with the arrival of the Russians and the Chinese. Local teeners became easy target for drug pushers selling marijuana and cocaine, that a wasted young man slumped on the pavement in the early hours of the morning became a common sight. Because of the good roads and highways that were built, drivers became aggressive and dangerous, thus causing heaps of accidents and loss of lives and limbs. That’s what this entry is all about.

Driving a car in a fast developing country could be very dangerous! They don’t have to take the same tests we expats undergo. As long as instructors see that they can drive that’s it!

Imagine driving at 160kmh with one hand on the steering wheel, while the other is on the mobile phone.. That’s disater waiting to happen.

Magaling, or should I say notorious sa tatlong bagay.. EATING, F*CKING, DRIVING..

Kaya ko intindihin yung hilig nila kumain. Matakaw din ako eh so I can relate. Lunchtime, I swear they can eat a whole cow!

That’s far less than the population of Metro Manila alone which is about 12 million, to think that the land area of Oman is bigger than the Philippines. Maybe the government is encouraging them to populate? Tsaka, manyak talaga tong mga to, in a funny kind of way.

Arabs are the worst drivers in the world believe me. Haay buhay. Minsan tuloy parang ayoko na lumabas at mag-field. Parang nagkaroon na ako ng trauma.

Here’s a video I found at youtube to demonstrate how dangerous these drivers can be. It’s not from Oman, but from Dubai. Parehong Arabo eh.

Mga Arab drivers tlaga oo. Mga siraulo. Mga MAJNOUN!

I heard from a friend who watched TV Patrol a while ago, that Malu Fernandez resigned. I did some searching and found this. Here’s the alleged statement:

Statement from Malu Fernandez on the OFW Controversy

I am humbled by the vehement and heated response provoked by my article entitled ‘From Boracay to Greece!’ which came out in the June 2007 issue of People Asia. To say that this article was not meant to malign, hurt or express prejudice against the OFWs now sounds hollow after reading through all the blogs from Filipinos all over the world. I am deeply apologetic for my insensitivity and the offensive manner in which this article was written, I hear you all and I am properly rebuked. It was truly not my intention to malign hurt or express prejudice against OFWs.

As the recent recipient and target of death threats, hate blogs, and deeply personal insults, I now truly understand the insidiousness of discrimination and prejudice disguised as humor. Our society is bound together by human chains of kindness and decency. I have failed to observe this and I am now reaping the consequences of my actions. It is my fervent hope that the lessons that Ive learned are not lost on all those who through anonymous blogs, engaged in bigotry, discrimination, and hatred ( against overweight individuals , for example )

I take full responsibility for my actions and my friends and family have nothing to do with this. To date I have submitted my resignation letters to both the Manila Standard and People Asia, on that note may this matter be laid to rest.

This statement hasn’t been verified if it did really came from Ms. Fernandez, but one thing is for sure.. The People have spoken, and their voices were heard!

Forgive and forget?? DONE But that’s just me :D All that matters to me now is that we, the Filipino People have triumphed!

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

ABS-CBN Interactive posted this on their site:

SOCIETY COLUMNIST QUITS AFTER OFW BASHING

Complaints sent via the Internet and through other types of media led a Manila-based society columnist to resign from her job following her negative comments about overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau reported Thursday.

Bureau chief Dindo Amparo reported that Filipinos in the Middle East proved they can make a difference by uniting for a cause against columnist Malu Fernandez.

My intention in posting this entry is to inform readers on what has been happening lately regarding this Malu Controversy, how in one way or another it has affected the lives of thousands of Filipinos, and how the power of the blogosphere made a difference.

I am moving on, and I hope you are too. Salamat sa alaala Malu. Buburahin na kita sa aking isipan. Paalam.. Wag ka na babalik.

Good work Bloggers! Congratulations mga Kababayan! Mabuhay ang mga OFWs! Mabuhay ang Pilipino!

A little tribute to all OFWs…
